The track and field team took on the entire WBAL last week at The King’s Academy with great results, including 25 personal bests. The boys 400-meter relay team posted a season-best time, ranking it No. 2 in the WBAL; Ayush Vyas, grade 11, set her personal best in the discus by 10 feet; and Marcus Tymous, grade 11, set the school record for a junior in the long jump. Later in the week, the Eagles competed at the Bearcat Invitational at San Mateo High School, where 18 more personal bests were set. Tymous set the junior school record in the long jump again; Kismet Singh, grade 10, nearly set the school record in the 100 hurdles; and Anna Weirich, grade 9, placed third in the 1,600. This week, the Eagles travel to Los Gatos for the CCS Top 8 event.
Lacrosse
The lacrosse team defeated Newark Memorial 13-6 last week, before being handed its first loss of the year as it fell to Mountain View 6-16. The 8-1 Eagles host Carlmont on Tuesday and Los Gatos on Wednesday before traveling to Sequoia on Friday.
Baseball
Last week, the baseball team split a home and away series with Mills. The week started with a 3-1, eight-inning win for the Eagles, in which Dominic Cea, grade 12, Matthew Kennedy, grade 12, and Nicholas Coulter, grade 9, each drove in a run. Later in the week, Mills upended Harker with a 12-3 win. This week, the Eagles host Crystal Springs Uplands on Tuesday and Pinewood on Thursday before traveling to Harbor on Saturday.
Swim
The Harker swim team hosted the WBAL Jamboree No. 3 last week. The boys team defeated Pinewood, Menlo and The King’s Academy, while the girls team defeated Menlo, Mercy Burlingame, Pinewood and The King’s Academy. Among the highlights, Vivian Wang, grade 12, placed first in the 200 free; Alyssa Huang, grade 10, took third in the girls 200 IM; Matthew Chung, grade 9, and Alex Yu, grade 11, went 1-2 in the boys 200 IM; Wang and Rhys Edwards, grade 9, won the boys and girls 50 free; the varsity boys swept the butterfly event, with Ethan Hu, grade 10, taking first; Andrew Chang, grade 9, won the 500 free; Hu and Yannick Bohbot-Dridi, grade 12, went 1-3 in the 100 breast; brother/sister combo Russell Yang, grade 9, and Jackie Yang, grade 10, went 1-2 in their 50 breast races.
Later in the week, the Eagles competed in the Palo Alto Sectional Challenge with some of the top swimmers in the area. Our group held its own with top placements from Wang, Hu and Chung and best-season times from Taylor Kohlmann, grade 12, and Angela Li, grade 11. The boys medley relay team of Edwards, Hu, Chung and Jason Kwok, grade 9, won its event and broke an 8-year-old school record and the girls relay team of Kohlmann, Angela Li, grade 11, Huang and Wang got its final relay cut time in the 200 free relay.
The swimmers are back in the pool at Singh Aquatic Center on April 25 for Senior Day against The King’s Academy.
Boys Tennis
The boys tennis team continued its dominating season as it defeated both Priory and Pinewood 7-0. This week, the 11-2 Eagles take on Crystal Springs Uplands on both Tuesday and Wednesday, and The King’s Academy on Thursday to finish up the regular season.
Boys Golf
Last week, the boys golf team continued to roll as it picked up two more wins. First, the Eagles defeated Sacred Heart Prep 181-209 with Jaimin Bhagat, grade 10, medaling with a 2-under-34. Later in the week, the boys defeated Mitty behind a 37 from Daulet Tuleubayev, grade 12. The Eagles take on Valley Christian on Thursday.
Boys Volleyball
The boys volleyball team improved to 17-3 with a 3-1 win over Cupertino and a 3-0 win over Lynbrook last week. This week, the boys host Saratoga on Wednesday and travel to Mountain View on Friday.
Softball
Last week, the softball team defeated El Camino 3-2 as Kristin LeBlanc, grade 12, and Cameron Zell, grade 11, each drove in a run and Anika Rajamani, grade 11, had three hits. However, the Eagles fell to Notre Dame San Jose 4-0 later in the week. This week, the Eagles host Notre Dame Belmont on Wednesday and travel to Mercy Burlingame on Thursday.
Synchronized swimmer Kate Chow, grade 12, recently competed at the U.S. Senior National Championships at Oro Valley Aquatic Center in Tucson, Ariz. The event is the most prestigious national competition for amateur swimmers. Chow won the individual high point award as she took home two first places, a second and a third while competing in technical team, free team, combo and free duet. This is Chow’s eighth year in synchronized swimming. She swims for the Santa Clara Aquamaids.
Congratulations to Carter Chadwick, grade 8, and his San Jose Jr. Sharks teammates on their California Amateur Hockey Association State Championship win last weekend in Southern California. Chadwick and his team went 8-0 and defeated the Anaheim Jr. Ducks in the finals on the road to the 14U B state title. Carter has been playing since he was 4 years old.
In the world of fencing, John Cracraft, grade 7, fenced in the Silicon Valley Regional Youth Circuit, held in Mountain View in early April, taking 30th out of 73 fencers in the Youth-12 boys foil event. Cracraft won two pool bouts and lost a third 4-5, seeding 42nd into the table. He then ran up against the 22nd seed, a tough left-hander and beat him 7-6 in overtime, flipping himself into the 32 bracket. He next fenced the No. 10 seed, an even tougher left-hander to end his day at 30th, a respectable finish in a tough event. Cracraft fences for Halberstadt Fencing Club and The Fencing Center, and is unrated. Ratings are earned in competitions and run A-E, A being the best fencers, combined with the year earned.
Ishani Sood, grade 6, fenced in the Super Youth Circuit in Escondido in mid-April and turned in some excellent results. In the Youth-14 women’s foil event, Sood, who holds a D-2017 rating and has earned several medals at national events, took 18th out of 62 fencers. She won all six pool bouts, seeding sixth into the table. She won her first elimination bout 14-5, then fell to the 27th seed. In the Youth-12 event, Sood medaled, taking fifth place out of 56 fencers. She again won all of her pool bouts and seeded sixth into the table. She had a bye in the first round, then cleaned up, winning 15-3 and 14-9 before hitting the 14th seed and losing 9-15. Sood fences for California Fencing Academy.
Harker had a solid contingent of fencers at the Regional Junior-Cadet Circuit held in San Jose this past weekend. The event drew fencers from all over the state and from as far away as Denver.
Ethan Choi, grade 9, took 15th in the cadet (16 and under) event out of 62 fencers, an exceptional finish in a very tough field. Choi went 4-2 in pools to seed into the 19th slot on the table. He cleaned up his first opponent, then ran into the 14th seed, who he flipped in a tough 15-13 bout. Choi then lost to the No. 3 seed. Choi also fenced in the junior event (19 and under) and finished 21st. He went 3-2 in pools, seeding 21st. He won his first elimination bout handily, then ran into the No. 12 seed, and that finished his day in a tournament that included a substantial contingent of college-age fencers. Choi fences for M-Team and is rated D-2018.
Sana Pandey, grade 10, participated in the Harker Research Symposium on Saturday and then fenced in cadet women’s epee on Sunday. Pandey, a co-president of the Harker Fencing Club, did well in pools, coming out 4-2, seeding 15th into the table. She had a bye in the first round, then fenced the 18th seed, losing 11-15 to finish up a busy weekend. Pandey fences for the International Fencing Academy of California and holds a C-2017 rating.
Nerine Uyanik, grade 10, co-president of the Harker Fencing Club, fenced in two foil events, finishing 28th out of 50 in the junior event and 30th out of 48 in the cadet event, following a break to recover from an injury. In the junior event, Uyanik was 2-3 in pools, seeding 27th into the table, where she won her first bout and lost her second to the No. 6 seed, an A-rated fencer who eventually won the tournament, pushing the bout to time. In the cadet event, she went 2-4 in pools, seeding 34th, won her first elimination bout then fought the No. 3 seed to a standstill in an incredibly tough bout, losing 15-14. Uyanik fences for San Francisco Fencing Academy and holds a B-2017 rating
Kishan Sood, grade 9, also coming off an injury, fenced in men’s cadet foil, finishing 41st out of 62. Sood went 2-4 in pools to seed 36th. He lost his first elimination bout to the 29th seed. Like his sister, Sood fences for California Fencing Academy. He holds an E-2017 rating.
Jerrica Liao, grade 12, fencing one of her last events as a high schooler, had a fine day, finishing third in junior women’s foil for a bronze medal. Liao, who has signed on to fence at Northwestern University, cleaned up in pools, 5-0, seeding fourth out of 50 fencers. Following a first round bye, she had one easier and two hard elimination bouts, with scores of 14-8. 14-13 and 14-13, before ending her day 14-8 against the top seed. Liao fences for Silicon Valley Fencing and holds a A-2015 rating.
William Cracraft, Harker Fencing Club advisor, fenced in the Bay Cup Series Veteran (40 and over) foil event on Sunday, taking the gold and improving his rating. He went 5-2 in pools, then ran through the table, beating two B-rated fencers and an A-rated fencer, all national point holders (as is Cracraft) to take top honors. The gold medal match score was 10-1. Cracraft, who has been fencing for more than 35 years, fences for Halberstadt Fencing Club and The Fencing Center. He now holds a B-2018 rating.

It was a split for the boys tennis team before the break, as it defeated Nueva 7-0 before falling to Menlo 1-6. This week, the Eagles take on Priory on Wednesday and Pinewood on Thursday.
Boys Golf
The boys golf team continued its winning ways as it picked up four big wins over the last two weeks. In a huge matchup for first place, the Eagles defeated Menlo in a tight 188-192 match, with Victor Shin, grade 12, taking the top spot with a 36. The Eagles then defeated Nueva and Crystal Springs Uplands in a tri-match 176-235-239, as senior Jin Kim led the way shooting a 32. Then, the boys headed up to Moraga where they defeated NCS powerhouse Campolindo 386-391 with Daulet Tuleubayev, grade 12, leading all golfers with a 69. However, over the break, the Eagles took their first loss of the season as Menlo narrowly defeated Harker 198-202. But the Eagles rebounded with a strong fifth-place finish at the Champions Invitational in Southern California over the weekend. The boys competed with 43 other teams with Tuleubayev finishing 18th out of 247 golfers. This week, the Eagles take on Sacred Heart on Monday and Mitty on Thursday.
Lacrosse
The lacrosse team improved to 7-0 as it defeated Woodside 15-14 and Lincoln 15-3 before the break. This week, the girls host Newark Memorial on Tuesday and Mountain View on Friday.
Boys Volleyball
The boys volleyball team brought the record to 15-3 with 3-0 wins over Los Altos and Cupertino before the break. This week, the Eagles travel to Cupertino on Thursday and host Lynbrook on Friday.
Baseball
The baseball team went 2-1 over the last few weeks, picking up wins over Crystal Springs Uplands and Westmoor, before dropping a game against Jefferson. In the 9-3 win over CSU, Dominic Cea, grade 12, had a terrific game with two hits and five RBIs at the plate, as well as throwing a complete game with 12 strikeouts on the mound. Then, in the 17-2 win over Westmoor, Max Lee, grade 10, led the offense with two hits and three RBIs. Finally, in an 4-8 loss to Jefferson, Anthony Meissner, grade 11 and Nicholas Coulter, grade 9, each drove in a run. This week, the Eagles travel to Mills on Tuesday before hosting Mills on Thursday.
Softball
The softball team also went 2-1 over the last few weeks with wins over Castilleja and Pinweood and a tough loss to Mercy Burlingame. In the 16-0 win over Castilleja, Cameron Zell, grade 11, had three hits and five RBIs with Molly Mobley, grade 9, adding three RBIs on two hits, including a home run. The Eagles took an 8-10 loss in extra innings later in the week to Mercy, with three hits each for Kristin LeBlanc, grade 12, Anika Rajamani, grade 11, Lily Wancewicz, grade 11 and Zell. The girls finished with a 9-4 win over Pinewood as LeBlanc and Mobley each drove in two runs. This week, the Eagles host El Camino on Tuesday and travel to Notre Dame San Jose on Thursday
Swim
This past weekend, the Harker swim team competed at the Ron Freeman Invitational at Monte Vista. Ethan Hu, grade 10, won the 50 free and the 100 fly; Andrew Lu, grade 9, won the JV 50 fly, and was second in the 100 breast and third in the 50 free; and Andrew Chang, grade 9, won the 100 breast. The swimmers take to the pool again on Wednesday at the Singh Aquatic Center for the WBAL Jamboree No. 3, followed by the Palo Alto Section Challenge on Saturday.
Track and Field
Over the break, Anna Weirich, grade 9, ran a personal best 5:18.23 in the 1,600-meter run at the prestigious Stanford Invitational. Also, several top Eagle runners competed in a league meet at Palo Alto High during the vacation. Kismet Singh, grade 10, ran a personal best of 17.61 in the 100 hurdles, just off of the school record. Anthony Contreras and Angel Cervantes, both grade 12, placed second and third in the 100; Gio Rofa, grade 10, ran his best ever in the 65 hurdles, ranking him No. 3 in the league. Up next for the track and field squad is a WBAL meet on Tuesday at The King’s Academy, followed by the Bearcat Invitational at San Mateo High School on Saturday.
The boys volleyball team had a very good week! It started with a 3-1 win over Mountain View and a 3-0 win over Los Altos, before taking second in the Monta Vista Tournament over the weekend. The Eagles defeated Lynbrook, Christopher, Branham and St. Francis, all 2-0, before falling in the championship to host Monta Vista 0-2. The 13-3 boys team will host Los Altos on Wednesday and Cupertino on Friday.
Swim
Last week, the Harker swim team hosted nearly 200 swimmers from 11 teams at the first WBAL jamboree of the season.
The Harker boys came out on top in the meet, defeating The King’s Academy, Pinewood, Menlo, Crystal Springs and Nueva.
It was a one-two-three sweep in the varsity 50 free with Matthew Chung (CCS time), Jason Kwok and Rhys Edwards, all grade 9.
Ethan Hu, grade 10, and Yannick Bohbot-Dridi, grade 12, were first and third in the 100 fly, with Hu placing second in the 100 back. Both swimmers made CCS cuts in the event.
Alex Yu, grade 11, won the 500 free in CCS time and took second in the 100 breast.
The varsity 200 free relay team of Edwards, Arnav Joshi, grade 10, Kwok and Bohbot-Dridi took first.
The varsity 400 free relay team of Chung, Kwok, Bohbot-Dridi and Hu took first.
For the JV boys, Russell Yang, Andrew Chang, Nicky Kriplani and Andrew Lu, all grade 9, won the medley relay and 200 free relay events.
Lu and Chang went first and third in the JV individual medley, and Lu went on to win the 50 free in varsity time with Kriplani taking third and winning the JV 50 fly.
Chang and Yang went first and second in the JV 50 breast. Karthik Nukala, grade 10, won the 50 back.
The Harker girls defeated The King’s Academy, Pinewood, Nueva and Mercy SF.
The girls medley A relay team of Taylor Kohlmann, grade 12, Vivian Wang, grade 12, Alyssa Huang, grade 10, and Angela Li, grade 11, won the event in CCS time.
Huang was third in the 200 IM, posting a best time.
Wang won the 50 and 100 free in CCS time.
Claudia Opris, grade 11, won the JV 50 and 100 free with best times for both races.
Next up for the Eagles is the Ron Freeman Invitational at Monta Vista on April 7.
Boys Golf
Last week, the boys golf team took fourth out of 21 teams at the Wildcat Invitational in Fairfax. Daulet Tuleubayev, grade 12, placed third overall. Later in the week, the Eagles defeated The King’s Academy 217-183, with Jaimin Bhagat, grade 10, leading the way with a 34. This week, the Eagles battle for first place with Menlo on Monday, followed by a league match with Crystal Springs Uplands and Nueva on Wednesday, and finishing the week with a trip to Moraga to take on one of the best teams in the NCS, Campolindo.
Baseball
Last week, the baseball team defeated Summit Rainier 19-4. The Eagles got huge games from Matthew Kennedy, grade 12, who had two hits and four RBIs, and Max Lee, grade 10, who had three hits and three RBIs. This week, the 3-2 Eagles travel to Crystal Springs Uplands on Monday, host Westmoor on Tuesday and travel to Jefferson on Thursday.
Track and Field
The track and field team competed at the Firebird Invitational last week with more great results. The girls sprint medley relay team of Grace Koonmen, grade 12, Nikki Solanki, grade 10, Gloria Guo, grade 12, and Anna Weirich, grade 9, won with a new school record time of 1:59.99. All four were running in their third race of an 11-hour track meet. The boys 400-meter relay team of Marcus Tymous, grade 11, Angel Cervantes, grade 12, Mitch Granados, grade 11, and Anthony Contreras, grade 12, placed second. Kismet Singh, grade 10, placed third against 30 other runners in the 100 hurdles. Contreras ran a personal best 11.57 to place fourth in the top 100 heat. Also, 15 runners posted their best times of the year. This weekend, the Eagles compete at the Stanford Invitational.
Lacrosse
The lacrosse team started the season on fire as it defeated Notre Dame San Jose 14-6 and Lincoln 13-3 last week to bring its record to 5-0. This week, the Eagles travel to Priory on Tuesday and host Lincoln on Thursday.
Softball
The softball team picked up its first win of the season as it defeated The King’s Academy 6-3 last week. Anika Rajamani, grade 11, had three hits and an RBI and Molly Mobley, grade 9, drove in two runs. This week, the Eagles host Mercy Burlingame on Tuesday and Pinewood on Thursday.

The boys tennis team was able to beat the rain and pick up a 7-0 win over Sacred Heart Prep last week. This week, the 7-1 Eagles take on Nueva on Monday and Menlo on Tuesday.
The boys golf team picked up a 240-197 league win over The King’s Academy last week with Jin Kim, grade 12, leading the way with a 35. This week, the Eagles once again take on King’s on Wednesday, followed by a matchup with Nueva on Thursday.
Track and Field
The Eagles competed in the first WBAL meet of the year last week with some great results, including 15 season bests. Tiffany Shou, grade 12, threw a lifetime best in the discus, only 4 feet off of the school record. All seven Harker hurdlers ran seasonal bests as well. Kismet Singh, grade 10, Lilly Anderson, grade 11, Zoey Rosa, grade 10, Hannah Bohbot-Dridi, grade 9, and Angela Cai, grade 9, for the girls, and in his first hurdle race ever, Gio Rofa, grade 10, won the boy’s 65-meter high hurdles. In the closest Eagle race of the day, Mitch Granados, grade 11, edged out Anthony Contreras, grade 12, in the 100 by 0.006 seconds.
Then over the weekend, the Eagles competed at the very competitive St. Francis Invitational. Anna Weirich, grade 9, opened the meet at 8 am, in 44-degree weather, with a win in the 3,000-meter. She came back three hours later and won the mile run with a time of 5:28. Contreras and Rofa ran well in their sections of the 400 and 100. Shou placed fourth in the girls’ discus while Eric Fang, grade 10, threw a personal best in the frosh-soph discus.
Up next for the track and field team is the Firebird Invitational at Fremont High this weekend.
Boys Volleyball
Last week, the boys volleyball team took a 0-3 loss to Monta Vista, but bounced back with a 3-0 win over Lynbrook later in the week. This week, the Eagles host Mountain View on Wednesday and travel to Los Altos on Friday, then compete in the Monta Vista Tournament over the weekend.

This past winter was amazing, with many league and tournament championships – and a whole lot of fun! We started off in early winter with boys basketball and girls soccer and finished in late winter with girls basketball and boys soccer.

VA (Grades 7-8) Boys Basketball – The Varsity A team, coached by Ed LeGrand Sawyer, finished in fifth place in the WBAL with a record of 1-5 and went 4-5 overall. Team awards went to Matthew Chen, grade 7 (MVP), Alex Zhang, grade 8 (Eagle) and Ayan Nath, grade 8 (Coaches).
VB (Grades 7-8) Boys Basketball – The Varsity B team, coached by Richard Amarillas, finished in first place (Tri-League Champs) in the WBAL with a 6-1 record and went 6-2 overall. Team awards went to Sasvath Ramachandran, grade 8 (MVP), Zeke Weng, grade 7 (Eagle) and Kaden Kapadia, grade 8 (Coaches).
VB2 (Grades 7-8) Boys Basketball – The Varsity B2 team, coached by Jon Cvitanich, finished in sixth place in the WBAL with a 2-5 record. Team awards went to Akhilesh Chegu, grade 8 (MVP), Michael Pflaging, grade 7 (Eagle) and Saurav Tewari, grade 8 (Coaches).
JVA (Grade 6) Boys Basketball – The Junior Varsity A team, coached by Mike Delfino, finished in fifth place in the WBAL with a 2-4 record and an overall record of 3-5. Team awards went to Om Tandon (MVP), Zachary Blue (Eagle) and Toju Maku (Coaches).
JVB6 (Grade 6) Boys Basketball – The Junior Varsity B6 team, coached by Matt Arensberg, finished in first place in the WBAL with a 6-1 record. Team awards went to Jack Shen and Kyle Leung (MVP), Jordan Labio (Eagle) and Ariav Misra (Coaches).
MS Intramural Boys Basketball – Team awards went to Zain Vakath, grade 7 (MVP), Ramit Goyal, grade 6 (Eagle) and Christopher Tonev, grade 7 (Coaches). The team was coached by Raul Rios and Adam Albers.
JVB1 (Grade 5) Boys Basketball – The Junior Varsity B1 team, coached by Kristian Tiopo, finished undefeated in first place in the WBAL with a 7-0 record and took first place in the WBAL tournament finishing with a 10-0 record overall. Team awards went to Gary Jin (MVP), Drew Diffenderfer (Eagle) and Advay Monga (Coaches).
JVB2 (Grade 5) Boys Basketball – The Junior Varsity B2 team, coached by Tim Hopkins, finished in eighth place in the WBAL with a 2-4-1 record. Team awards went to Rahul Yalla (MVP), Edward Hunter (Eagle) and Max Zhai (Coaches).
JVC (Grade 4) Boys Basketball – The Junior Varsity C team, coached by Karriem Stinson, finished undefeated in first place in the WBAL with a 7-0 record. Team awards went to Brennan Williams (MVP), and Topaz Lee and Rishaan Thoppay (Eagle).
LS Intramural Boys Basketball – Team awards went to Vedant Yadav, grade 5, and Jackson Powell, grade 4 (MVP), Keshav Kotamraju, grade 5, and Sriram Batchu, grade 4 (Eagle), and Anderson Chung, grade 5, and Veeraz Thakkar, grade 4 (Coaches). The team was coached by Tobias Wade.

JVA (Grade 6) Girls Soccer – The Junior Varsity A team, coached by Brittney Moseley and Vanessa Rios, finished in sixth place in the WBAL with a record of 0-5-1. Team awards went to Kate Grannis (MVP), Anya Chauhan (Eagle), and Margaret Cartee and Claire Luo (Coaches).
JVB (Grades 4-5) Girls Soccer – The Junior Varsity B team, coached by Justin Sullivan, finished in second place in the WBAL with a record of 3-1-2. Team awards went to Claire Anderson (MVP), MacEnzie Blue, grade 4 (Eagle) and Kylie Anderson (Coaches).
LATE WINTER
VA (Grades 7-8) Girls Basketball – The Varsity A team, coached by Richard Amarillas, finished undefeated in first place in the WBAL with a 7-0 record and an overall record of 7-1. Team awards went to Maya Hernandez, grade 7, and Haley Hernandez, grade 7 (co-MVPs), Gigi Chan, grade 8 (Eagle), and Ashley Barth, grade 8, and Priya Rohra, grade 8 (Coaches).
VB (Grades 7-8) Girls Basketball – The Varsity B team, coached by Tim Hopkins and Brittney Moseley, finished undefeated in first place in the WBAL with a 7-0 record and took first place in the WBAL tournament finishing 9-0 overall. Team awards went to Athena Wu, grade 7 (MVP), Angela Jia, grade 8 (Eagle) and Avery Olson, grade 7 (Coaches).
JVA (Grade 6) Girls Basketball – The Junior Varsity A team, coached by Jon Cvitanich and Vanessa Rios, finished in fourth place in the WBAL with a 5-3 record and went 5-5 overall. Team awards went to Anjali Yella (MVP), Kate Grannis (Eagle) and Margaret Cartee (Coaches).
MS Intramural girls basketball – Team awards went to Alice Tao, grade 6 (MVP), Serena Janny, grade 6 (Eagle) and Brindha Chandran, grade 6 (Coaches). The team was coached by Raul Rios and Adam Albers.
JVB (Grade 5) Girls Basketball – The Junior Varsity B1 team, coached by Karriem Stinson, finished undefeated in first place in the WBAL with a 7-0 record and took 1st place in the WBAL tournament finishing 10-0 overall. Team awards went to Isabella Lo (MVP), Claire Anderson (Eagle) and Kylie Anderson (Coaches).
JVC (Grade 4) Girls Basketball – The Junior Varsity C team, coached by Kristian Tiopo and Belle Carley, finished undefeated in first place in the WBAL with a 6-0 record. Team awards went to Minal Jalil (MVP), Elie Ahluwalia (Eagle) and Tanvi Sivakumar (Coaches).
LS Intramural Girls Basketball – Team awards went to Menaka Aron, grade 5, and Arushi Sahasi, grade 4 (Co-MVP) and Hannah Streeper, grade 5 (Coaches). The team was coached by Tobias Wade.
VA (Grade 8) Boys Soccer – The Varsity A team, coached by Brighid Wood, Adyant Kanakamedala and Deven Parikh, finished in second place in the WBAL with a record of 3-1-1, and an overall record of 6-1-1. Team awards went to Ishaan Mantripragada (MVP), Raj Patel (Eagle) and Sasvath Ramachandran (Coaches).
VB (Grade 7) Boys Soccer – The Varsity B team, coached by Brighid Wood, Adyant Kanakamedala, grade 12, and Deven Parikh, grade 9, finished in second place in the WBAL with a league record of 4-2-1. Team awards went to Ben Tian and Michael Pflaging (co-MVPs), Pranav Mullappalli (Eagle) and Rupert Chen (Coaches).
JVA (Grade 6) Boys Soccer – The Junior Varsity A team, coached by Colleen Campbell, finished in third place in the WBAL with a record of 2-4 and an overall record of 2-5. Team awards went to Alexander Guo (MVP), Ryan Barth (Eagle) and Ramit Goyal (Coaches).
JVB (Grade 5) Boys Soccer – The Junior Varsity B team, coached by Matt Arensberg, finished in second place in the WBAL with a record of 3-2-1. Team awards went to Alec Zhang (MVP), Advay Monga (Eagle), and Veer Sahasi and Vyom Vidyarthi (Coaches).
LS Intramural Boys Soccer – Team awards went to Ryder Hewitt, grade 4 (MVP), Cyrus Ghane, grade 4 (Eagle) and Kaan Kurtoglu, grade 4 (Coaches). The team was coached by Walid Fahmy.
It was a very successful winter season for Harker athletics and the accolades continued with the announcement of the All-League teams.
Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team won its first league title in school history and was awarded with the No.2 seed in the CCS playoffs. Jared Anderson, grade 11, was named WBAL Forward of the Year and Rohit Shah, grade 12, was named Midfielder of the Year. In addition, Nick Acero-Blyshak, Sharad Chandra, Mason Menaker and Vedant Shah, all grade 12, were first team selections. Shaya Zarkesh, grade 12, and Andrew Cheplyansky, grade 10, were named to the second team, with Asmit Kumar, grade 10, and Edwin Su, grade 11, receiving an honorable mention.
Girls Soccer
The girls soccer team finished with a 9-7-1 record and third place league finish. Julia Amick, grade 11, and Stephanie Scaglia, grade 12, were both named to the first team, with Krishna Bheda and Aislinn Coveney, both grade 12, named to the second team. Cameron Zell and Ria Gupta, both grade 11, received honorable mentions.
Boys Basketball
The boys basketball team made some noise in the CCS playoffs, winning two games and making it to the quarterfinals. Eric Jeong, grade 12, and Jarrett Anderson, grade 11, received honorable mentions in a tough WBAL league.
Girls Basketball
The girls basketball team entered CCS as the No. 10 seed, but was defeated in the first round. Akhila Ramgiri, grade 11, was a first team selection and Satchi Thockchom, grade 12, received an honorable mention.
Wrestling
Eric Fang, grade 10, was the sole Harker representative at CCS and was named to the All-League roster.
Over the weekend, the track and field team competed at The King’s Academy Track Classic and broke four school records. The boys distance medley relay team of Henry Wong, grade 11, Anthony Contreras, grade 12, Alex Rule, grade 11, and Ryan Adolf, grade 11, broke the previous 4,000-meter distance relay record by 50 seconds. Nikki Solanki, grade 10, set new sophomore school records in the 100 and 200, with both times ranking No. 3 on the all-time list. Giovanni Rofa, grade 10, set a sophomore long jump school record with his 17′ 10″ jump; the previous record holder, Davis Dunaway ’17, who was home on break from Carnegie Mellon, assisted him. Anna Weirich, grade 9, ran the third best all-time 1,600 with her 5:25 run, then came back five hours later and ran a 5:21 on a relay. Next up for the Eagles is the first WBAL event of the year at Bellarmine on Wednesday, followed by the St. Francis Invitational on Saturday.
Boys Volleyball
The boys volleyball team continued its hot start to the season as it defeated Los Gatos and Oak Grove last week, each 3-0. This week, the 6-1 boys team travels to Monta Vista on Wednesday and Lynbrook on Friday.
Softball
The softball team lost two tough games last week. In a 12-13 loss to Notre Dame San Jose, the Eagles gave up seven runs in the final inning to take the loss. In the game, Molly Mobley, grade 9, and Cameron Zell, grade 11, each had an impressive four hits and two RBIs; Anika Rajamani, grade 11, had three hits and two RBIs; and Taylor Lam, grade 11, had four hits, including a home run. Later in the week, the girls fell to Fremont 6-9. Mobley had two more hits and two more RBIs, and Zell added three hits and an RBI. This week, the Eagles host Mercy Burlingame on Tuesday and Gunderson on Friday.
Boys Tennis
The boys tennis team was on fire last week as it defeated Nueva, Priory and Aptos, each 7-0, before running into a Menlo roadblock and falling 1-6. This week, the Eagles take on Pinewood, Carlmont and The King’s Academy on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
Lacrosse
Last week, the lacrosse team picked up the 9-5 win over Salinas to open its 2018 season. This week, the girls host Woodside on Tuesday and Stevenson on Thursday.
Baseball
The baseball team lost a tough one to Independence High 2-7 in extra innings last week. Dominic Cea, grade 12, threw 7.1 innings of three-hit, 10-strikeout ballgame. This week, the Eagles travel to Jefferson High on Thursday.
Swim
The swim team competed at the Small School invitational over the weekend with amazing results:

Boys Golf
The boys golf team picked up a 227-204 victory over Crystal Springs Uplands last week with Daulet Tuleubayev, grade 12, leading the way shooting a 36. Then, over the weekend, the boys traveled to Nevada to compete in the Pahrump Valley Invitational and finished fourth out of 18 teams. Jin Kim, grade 12, and Jaimin Bhagat, grade 10, were the top Eagle golfers, tying for 19th place. This week, the Eagles take on The King’s Academy on Monday.
The boys golf team officially opened its season with a strong fifth place finish out of 25 of the best Bay Area teams at the very competitive Livermore Cowboy Classic. Jaimin Bhagat, grade 10, led the Eagles with a 2-over-par 74. This week, the Eagles take on Crystal Springs Uplands on Tuesday before traveling to Nevada for the Pahrump Valley Invitational on Thursday.
Track
The track and field team opened its season at the Willow Glen Invitational over the weekend. Marcus Tymous, grade 11, Andy Koonmen, grade 11, and Nikki Solanki, grade 10, were each heat winners in their events. Anton Novikov, grade 9, ran his debut Harker 100-meter, placing seventh out of 75 frosh-soph sprinters. The varsity boys 400m relay team of Tymous, Angel Cervantes, grade 12, Mitchell Granados, grade 11, and Anthony Contreras, grade 12, placed fourth to earn medals for the team. Anna Weirich, grade 9, was a medalist in her first Harker race, placing fourth during the coldest part of the day in the 800m. The Eagles are back on the track this Saturday at The King’s Academy Track Classic.
Boys Tennis
The boys tennis team opened its season with a 7-0 win over Sacred Heart Prep, followed by a 5-2 win over Aragon last week. This week, the boys stay busy as they take on Nueva on Monday, Priory on Tuesday, Aptos on Wednesday and Menlo on Thursday.
Boys Volleyball
The boys volleyball team opened its season with a 3-0 win over Saratoga before going 3-1 at the Wilcox Tournament earning the Silver Division Championship. This week, the Eagles host Los Gatos on Wednesday, then travel to Oak Grove on Friday.
Baseball
The baseball team fell to Menlo 11-0 last week, but the Eagles turned what is believed to be the first triple play in school history. Max Lee, grade 10, Zach Hoffman, grade 11, Dominic Cea, grade 12, and Bobby Schick, grade 12, were all involved in this rare baseball feat. This week, the Eagles host Independence High on Monday before traveling to Jefferson High on Thursday.
Softball
The softball team took a tough 13-16 loss to Palo Alto last week in a wild back and forth game. The Eagles host Notre Dame San Jose on Tuesday and travel to Fremont High on Friday.
Swim
The swim team competes next at the Small School Invitational on March 10 at Sacred Heart Prep.
Lacrosse
The lacrosse team opens its season on Tuesday by hosting Salinas High.
Last week, the boys basketball team began its postseason with a 60-54 win over Terra Nova, with Brando Pakel, grade 12, and Jack Connors, grade 10, each scoring 12 points. The Eagles then upset the No. 5 seed Pacific Grove 58-45 behind 16 points from Connors and another 14 points from Marcus Tymous, grade 11. However, the season came to an end as the boys fell to Carmel 54-69 in the quarterfinals. The Eagles end the season with a 13-14 record.
Boys Soccer
After an historic season for the boys soccer team, the Eagles were ranked No. 2 heading into the Division 2 playoffs. However, Santa Cruz High upset the boys with a stunning 2-1 last-minute win. The boys soccer team ends the year with an impressive 14-2-3 record.
Girls Basketball
The girls basketball team fell to Pacific Grove 35-54 in the first round of the CCS playoffs, ending its season with a 9-12 record.
SPRING
Baseball
The baseball team opened the year with a 17-1 win over visiting San Jose High, followed by a 7-2 win over Trinity Christian. In the matchup with San Jose, Dominic Cea, grade 12, had three hits and two RBIs, with Matthew Kennedy, grade 12, driving in three runs, and freshmen Levi Sutton, Ellis Goldman and Luke Wancewicz each driving in two runs in their first high school game. Kennedy had three RBIs and Cea had three hits to lead the way again in the win over Trinity Christian. This week, the Eagles travel to Menlo on Tuesday, host Pinewood on Thursday and travel to Lincoln SF on Saturday.
Swim
The swim team opened its season last week against Monterey. The 200 medley relay team of Ethan Hu, grade 10, Matthew Chung, grade 9, Jason Kwok, grade 9, and Alex Yu, grade 11, won the event and made the first CCS cut of the season. Also, Chung swam the 200 freestyle in nearly record-breaking time. The swimmers will compete again on March 10 at the Small School Invitational at Sacred Heart Prep. On Saturday, the team competed at the Spring Kickoff at Palo Alto High, which saw many swimmers achieve CCS cut times. Vivian Wang, grade 12, 50 free (first place) and 100 free (first place); Hu, 100 fly (first place) and 100 back (second place); Chung, 200 IM (second place) and 100 breast (third place); Kwok, 100 breast (first place); and the varsity girls 400 free relay team of Taylor Kohlmann, grade 12, Betsy Tian, grade 9, Alyssa Huang, grade 10, and Wang.
Softball
The softball team gets things rolling on Wednesday as it travels to Palo Alto, followed by a trip to Crystal Springs Uplands on Friday.
Boys Golf
The boys golf team kicks off its season at the Cowboy Classic in Livermore this Wednesday.
Boys Volleyball
The boys volleyball team officially opens its season this Wednesday as players travel to Cupertino High. On Friday, the boys travel to Saratoga, followed by the Wilcox Tournament over the weekend.

The boys tennis team opens up its season with a busy week. The Eagles host Sacred Heart Prep on Tuesday, before traveling to Aragon on Wednesday and Nueva on Thursday.
