Students perform at Earth Day Festival

On April 22, recognized worldwide as Earth Day, Harker seniors Gwen-Zoe Yang, Claire Kampmeier and Jacob Huang performed a humorous skit at the Cupertino Earth Day Festival to raise public awareness about the ever-growing garbage patch in the Pacific Ocean. The garbage patch is now twice the size of Texas.

Each student played the role of a piece of plastic waste bobbing in the ocean: Yang played Cuppy, a plastic cup; Kampmeier was Plastic God, an abandoned Frisbee; and Huang appeared as Lord Aqua, an Aquafina bottle.

Yang has performed environmental skits and recited nature poems at the Annual Cupertino Earth Day Festival for 10 years.
