Last month, sixth grader Ayaan Aggarwal placed third overall at the Azhar Cup chess tournament, organized by the Bay Area Chess Club for players with U.S. Chess Federation ratings in the 800-2200 range. A chess player since the age of three, Aggarwal has said he plans to continue competing in both middle and high school.
