Eighth grader Ushnish Chatterjee recently took first place in American Protégé’s “We Sing Pop!” singing competition. He and other top placers in the competition were invited to New York City for a performance at the famous Carnegie Hall. A singer since the age of three, Chatterjee began by singing songs in Bengali taught to him by his mother. He now performs in English and Bengali, as well as Spanish, Korean and French. Each year, the “We Sing Pop!” competition accepts submissions from artists as young as four years old from across the world, who record videos of their performances. Finalists are awarded with an opportunity to perform in New York City at a special event in front of a panel of judges.
