Table tennis enthusiast Xianyao He, grade 9, recently won the gold medal in the cadet boys (U15) category at the ITTF Pan American Youth Championships, in Charleston, W. Va. The win qualified him for the 2023 ITTF World Youth Championships, set to take place Nov. 26-Dec. 3 in Nova Gorica, Slovenia. A member of the USA Table Tennis Boys’ National Junior Team in the U15 category, He helped his team defeat top seed Puerto Rico to reach the finals, but the team lost to Brazil in a thrilling final match. In singles play, He defeated opponents from countries such as Guatemala, Peru, Argentina, Puerto Rico and Brazil.
