Fall Sports Start With a Great Game By the Gridiron Gang!
Harker Eagles are on the fields and in the gyms! Great start by the Harker football team last Friday!
Cross Country
Niki Iyer, grade 12, continued to compete over summer break as she traveled to Sacramento in late July for the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships, where she placed first in the girls 17-18 3000-meter run. Check out her post race interview.
Football
The varsity football team opened its 2016 season with an exciting 21-14 win over Yerba Buena. Nate Kelly and Angel Cervantes, both grade 11, led the charge for the Eagles. Kelly passed for 219 yards and two TDs and added the game-winning rushing TD late in the game. Cervantes caught four passes for 163 yards and a score. Next up for the Eagles is a trip to Prospect Friday at 7 p.m. Here’s the highlight film.
Girls Volleyball
The girls volleyball team suffered a tough loss in its season opener as it fell to Homestead in five games. Then over the weekend, the team went 2-3 at the Milpitas Spikefest, picking up wins over Lynbrook and Burlingame. The Eagles will host Monte Vista Christian Tuesday night, then travel to Presentation on Thursday.
Boys Water Polo
The boys water polo team started the season with a bang as it went 2-1 at the Wilcox Great 8 Tournament. The Eagles picked up a 17-7 win over Palma and a 20-10 win over Santa Teresa, as Matt Hajjar, grade 10, led the Eagles with 19 goals over the weekend. The boys team has the week off before squaring off with Lynbrook next Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. at the Singh Aquatic Center.
Girls Water Polo
The girls water polo team begins its season next Tuesday as it hosts Lynbrook under the lights at 7 p.m.
Girls Tennis
The girls tennis team opens its season on Sept. 20 as it hosts Menlo at the Santa Clara Tennis Center at 4 p.m.
Girls Golf
The varsity girls golf squad kicks off the 2016 season on Tuesday with a match against Valley Christian at Silver Creek Valley Country Club at 3:45 p.m.
